Comments on First Bank Of Antimatter Issues Anti-Money
Interested in trading currency? Have you thought about antimatter depository notes? (Read the complete story)

"Radioactive materials as currency was an idea Niven put forth in a satirical essay. Gold would be as valuable if not moreso, to protect the rich from their money... foreign aid could be delivered by ICBM..."
( 10/14/2009 6:10:00 AM)
"[ It looks like I have to take this statement back! See comments below. ] Since some people seemed to be wondering whether or not the First Bank of Antimatter could issue real currency, let me be more explicit. Since Keats is a ordinary citizen, he cannot issue real currency; according to Article 1, Section 8 of the US Constitution, only the Congress has the power "to coin Money [and] regulate the Value thereof.""
(Bill Christensen 10/27/2009 9:02:50 AM)
"Actually, Article 1, Section 8, does not prohibit anyone from issuing their own form of currency. A town in, I believe, South Carolina has recently issued currency for use at local merchants. As long as it does not look like US currency, there is no law against it. The writer should do better research next time before making a statement."
(JGreen 10/28/2009 10:32:12 AM)
"Hmm.. you're probably right. I've looked around online, and it's a pretty murky area. I should leave constitutional law alone, since I'm not a lawyer! So, I take it back!"
(Bill Christensen 10/28/2009 1:33:12 PM)
