Comments on Do Elementary Particles Have Free Will?
Princeton mathematicians take their case to the public - if you have free will, so do elementary particles. (Read
the complete story)
"At the level of elementary particles, time could be stopped
The assumption is that at the level of elementary partcles,
time is the infinite set of urelements U of the set theory
with urelements.
If it can be prevented going from the urelement-time u1 to
u2, time would be stopped.
Time at the level of elementary particles is not the arrow
of time that we know at our level.
As a result of what could be happening at the level of
elementary particles, there might be disturbances of
time in an area, at our level, like slowing down.

"Perhaps they have. But perhaps it is humans who do not. Sure, Quantum Mechanics has certain level of 'randomness', but nothing that is proved to be absolutely random (in theory, could be found non-random in future).
When you start looking at this world scientifically, sometimes, even the idea of there being free will (or of us being the mental agent pulling our own strings)seems completely illogical. Benjamin Libet's experiments proved that free will, as humans imagine it, is an illusion. But I might be wrong, who knows.
And yes, I'm a determinist, yes, atheist as well."
