I'm looking forward to the Iron Man movie, but what I'm really looking forward to is real robotic exoskeletons. Check out the contenders. (Read

| "HAL-5 definately. The XOS is slower in data-transmitting the muscle movement. HAL-5 can do it faster than your own limbs and reacts before you do. Anyway, here's my big thought: Combine them. Imagine someone in a HAL suit wearing the XOS. You could stick them in a large armored suit that carries a big enough battery to last for hours. | "Colonel, curious how you came to that conclusion, in the videos it seems HAL is at a loss to the XOS in terms of reactive mobility. The HAL looked quite unwieldy in it's demonstrations, despite the user being reluctant to do anything much beyond posing for the camera whilst shifting positions slowly. | "From what I've seen the XOS is stronger and offers more use in military and labor, but the HAL is more compact and can run off a battery, more suited to helping disabled and enhancing athletes. | "I agree with the no-name response to Colonel. The XOS seems way more responsive than the HAL. When watching the demo video of the HAL, the user seems to waddle when they walk and also seem to be less able to control the suit dexterously. Another issue is the hand aspect, which could easily be solved. In fact, I recently did and am now working to improve a version of a pneumatically powered exo-skeletal glove that provides pneumatically-assisted grip for hands. The pneumatics could easily be replaced with hydraulics, but I didn't have the resources for that seeing as I am only a high school student. This is my senior year, and I'm working on making the glove that I made wearable (it was a tad undersized for my hand) and able to exert a greater force through the fingers. I also want to make it armored with a combination of metal plates and a force-distributive type of armor (such as the Dragon Skin armor, proven more effective than Kevlar) to make it a practical military application.
