Poul Anderson's 'Brain Wave'

I discovered this post on X about Brain Wave (The Escape), an excellent 1953 novel by Poul Anderson.

Be sure to see the replies to make sure you read through the full set of posts, detailing so many predictions for our current era, including the following:

• Remote work has taken off. People stuck at low-end jobs stop showing up to them.
• People lose interest in literature, in the art and culture that predate the acceleration.
• The creation of podcasts for individuals
• Rather than essays, memes suffice to convey ideas
• Strong-willed people, those already accustomed to deep thinking, do well after the acceleration. For the rest, conventional psychiatric treatments don’t really work anymore.
