IconicSounds Electric - BMW EV Scored By Hans Zimmer
"IconicSounds Electric" is the name that BMW has given to the new soundscape created by musician Hans Zimmer. Zimmer created the score for movies like Blade Runner 2049, Interstellar and The Dark Knight, so he definitely knows what the future sounds like.
Electric vehicles don't make gasoline engine sounds. Gas engine sounds were referred to by engineers as "noise", at least at first, and they tried to get rid of them. Eventually, they got some control over the noise, and people started to like it.
And now the Zimmer IconicSounds Electric, but you'll need to skip to the end of the following video:
Science fiction legend Robert Heinlein knew we were going to need this, so he wrote about it in his 1985 novel The Cat Who Walks Through Walls:
... with its Shipstone [power source] concealed and a sound tape to supply the noise of a soi-disant "IC" engine, the difference between a working replica and a real "automobile" was not readily apparent.
