Sono Sion Electric Car Charges As You Drive

The Sono Sion is an electric car that is still prototyping its way to success. The idea is that it is covered with solar panels, and the car can charge itself while you drive it, or when you park it in the sunshine.

Our innovative manufacturing process enables the seamless integration of solar cells into the body of the Sion or other surfaces. In combination with the viSono system integration, we are creating an innovative charging solution. This enables the Sion to generate an additional range of up to 5,800 kilometers per year using only solar energy. Completely free of emissions and free of charge.

Solar instead of paint. The exterior of the Sion is entirely covered in Solar Body Panels. In the course of a completely new manufacturing process, the solar modules are perfectly adapted to the shape of the vehicle. An innovation that can be used in many different ways, that breaks previous boundaries and opens up completely new application possibilities.

Fans of the many Robert Heinlein novels and stories will doubtlessly remember the solar powered utility vehicle from his 1940 story Coventry:

It drew its power from six square yards of sunpower screens on its low curved roof. These drove a constant- load motor, or, when halted, replenished the storage battery against cloudy weather, or night travel...

It could maintain a steady six miles per hour on smooth, level pavement. When confronted by hills, or rough terrain, it did not stop, but simply slowed until the task demanded equaled its steady power output...

I just love the steel tortoise; it's a great example of Heinlein's many amazing ideas and popularizations - see Robert Heinlein's science fiction inventions.
