Modu Cell Phone Module Adds Connectivity To Everything

Modu is an amazing development in cell phone technology that let's you add cell phone connectivity to a wide variety of other consumer devices.

(Modu cell phone module)

Modu is a significant variation on the idea of having one gadget that serves as a cell phone, PDA and music player. By slipping the Modu cell phone module into specially constructed "sleeve" devices, you add cell phone capability to another device that is specifically designed for its particular purpose.

Slip it into a suitable device, and it becomes a cell-phone connected email reader. Slip it into a camera, and the camera is now able to upload its pictures anywhere. You use a real camera, not a cheesy cell phone camera.

Slip it into your car, and now your car is connected to the cell phone network. Slip it into your computer and now your laptop can connect to the Internet via cell towers.

This concept allows consumers to add cell phone connectivity (and therefore internet connectivity) to any device.

(Modu teaser video)

Not the least of Modu's tricks is the ability to have several different cell phones. My daughter could have an ultra-slim and tiny phone for taking to parties, a phone with a nice screen and keypad for chatting and web browsing and yet another phone sleeve for downloading and playing games.

Modu is a technology that could be an enabler for any number of science-fictional devices that require a high degree of connectivity.

Take a look at an interview with Modu inventor Dov Moran. Thanks to Moira for pointing me at this device; learn more at the Modu website.
