Sprint RFID Loyalty Card Triggers Minority Report-Style Ads
Sprint has developed two RFID applications based on customer loyalty cards that can identify a customer as he or she walks through a store. If the customer is within eight feet of an RFID card reader, the application triggers the appearance of a customized computer avatar on a nearby screen.

The avatar is a software creation enabled by Haptek, inc. The software takes a look at the history of purchases made by the customer, and crafts an offer based on those implied preferences.
"Hospitality is another vertical market where this application has use," stated Ben Parker, of Sprint's technical staff. "People could check into the hotel using a kiosk. The avatar pops up to offer additional services and provides you with coupons that you can use upon checkout."
