Eyeball Tattoo Creates Eyes Of The Ibad

Eyeball tattooing has been around for a long time; in the 19th century it was commonly used to correct cosmetic defects in blind eyes.

(Eyeball tattooing - injecting the dye)

Shannon Larratt, owner of the body-modification website Bmezine.com, decided to give the idea a 21st century spin. He and two friends had their eyeballs injected with the same dye as is used in regular tattooing.

(Final eyeball tattoo)

This is frankly the oddest form of body-mod I've seen so far (okay, maybe I don't get out much), including the excruciatingly painful looking JewelEye and the utilitarian Pierced Glasses.

However, I can't help but think that this would be a quick way to get the blue-in-blue eyes of the Ibad that resulted from a diet with a high concentration of the spice melange in Frank Herbert's Dune novels.

Then he was face to face with a hooded figure who crouched low, crysknife at the ready. Two more men stood waiting on the rocks above to left and right. Only the eyes of the fighting man ahead of him were visible to Gurney between hood and veil of a sand-colored burnoose, but the crouch and readiness warned him that here was a trained fighting man. The eyes were the blue-in-blue of the deep-desert Fremen.

I'd be careful about letting these guys into your sietch, though.
