The Nokia N73 will include the following unusual features:
- A collection of Azkars for the morning and the evening
- An Islamic Organizer with audible alarms for the five daily prayers
- A Qibla direction indicator
- A Hijri calendar.
"In addition the Nokia N73 Special Edition offers unique Ramadan Greetings, a very special customized e-card application that enables families and friends to send greeting cards through SMS or MMS in celebration of this Holy month," said Neil Gordon, Vice President for Multimedia.
I've been fascinated with the confluence of technology and religious practice. Early science-fictional examples include the pray-o-mat from Roger Zelazny's 1967 award-winning story Lord of Light.
A man inserted a coin into the mouth of a steel tiger. The machine began to purr. He pressed buttons cast in the likenesses of animals and demons...
The man drew down upon the lever that grew from the side of the machine cast in the likeness of the tail of a fish.
A holy blue light filled the interior of the machine; the serpents pulsed redly; and there... a prayer wheel swung into view and began spinning at a furious pace.

Readers may also remember artifacts like the filament paper book from Frank Herbert's Dune.
