Comments on OLO iPhone-based Laptops
This is a really slick idea if you haven't seen it; at the right price point, this would be a great answer to those small net-surfing laptops. (Read the complete story)

"Obviously the Type I and Type II Phasers from ST:TOS, tho I know I've seen stories with computers that used this concept."
(Ashley 10/13/2008 9:22:15 PM)
"Transformers had this. Headmasters, Powermasters, and Targetmasters. There were a few that involved two non-organic species, for their simbiot components."
(Nyborg 10/13/2008 10:57:11 PM)
"R2D2 fits in the X-Wing. "
(Raffaele 10/14/2008 12:40:58 AM)
"Dov Moran, who inventor of the flash drive, is working on a mobile phone for which this will be a standard feature. It's call Modu: http://gizmodo.com/353637/modu-cellphone-changes-function-with-jackets"
(Yossi Preminger 10/14/2008 4:59:34 AM)
"Ashley, Nyborg, Raffaele - great comments! I was hoping some readers could help me out.
Yossi - that's a cool concept. I did a story on it a while back; see Modu Cell Phone Module Adds Connectivity To Everything (it includes a Modu demonstration video). I'd forgotten about that one."
(Bill Christensen 10/14/2008 5:41:32 AM)
"Very much reminds me of the Modu concept (which I thought I saw here, but perhaps not). A modular cell phone kernal that you can insert into multiple device types and skins: http://sparkingtech.com/gadgets/modu-modular-phone-wants-to-combine-all-gadgets-into-one/"
(Zac Hunter 10/14/2008 1:57:16 PM)
"Doh! You just said that. I promise to read all the comments before I post next time. lol"
(... 10/14/2008 2:07:19 PM)
"i don't think we ever saw an actor actually snap a type-i phaser into a type-ii phaser dock, so this functionality wasn't really clear to the viewer ... it was clearly intended by the production designers though"
(phizzasers 10/14/2008 10:15:24 PM)
"Thank god there's someone else besides me who thought about transformers' headmasters ^_^;"
(erdraug 10/16/2008 6:06:49 AM)
