Chairdog

A chair that is alive and partly sentient; it shapes itself to the person sitting in it. (Read the full article)

"Hi! You posted a comment on my site, that you liked the german translation of the Dune dog chairs "Stuhlhund" and would like to hear more of those terms, but I must disappoint you, all the other technologies terms in the german translation of the Dune Books were not translated as far as I remember! The special word "Stuhlhund" was the only really original word creation."

"Hello! Does anyone know that the chairdogs also made an appearance in Herbert's later Dune novels? I always wondered if that meant that the Dune milieu was connected to the Whipping Star universe. Does anyone know if this is the case?"

"I believe Chairdogs do show up in the latter Dune novels by Herbert, but I need to check. But I doubt there is any direct connection to the Whipping Star universe. Some science fiction authors reuse some of their inventions in other stories. If I recall, there was a Ccat-variant of the chairdog in Whipping Star. It's been a while since reading the book, but I'll try finding the passage. "

"Chairdogs do appear in the late Dune novels. I think they're first appearance is in Heretics. Miles Teg hates them."

"They are mentioned many times in the latter novels I'm not sure about the 1rst 4 books, I think a chair dog is a chair that is alive and are bred to be sat on please correct me if i'm wrong."

"As far as I know, the chairdogs first appear in the novel cited on the preceding main article page, 'The Tactful Saboteur', published in 1964. It's also seen in other Herbert novels set in the Consentiency, like 'Whipping Star' and 'The Dosadi Experiment'."
