Ernst Junger (1895-1998) was a German writer and intellectual. He volunteered for service in WWI; wounded 14 times, he was decorated for valor. He studied botany and zoology at Leipzig and Naples. His early works glorified war in the Nietzchean manner; he later opposed Hitler.
