Sir Ridley Scott (b. 1937) is an English film director and producer. Following his commercial breakthrough with the science-fiction horror film Alien (1979), his best known works are films Blade Runner (1982), Gladiator (2000), Hannibal (2001), Prometheus (2012) and The Martian (2015).
