Minority Report (Movie) by Steven Spielberg:
Science Fiction Inventions, Technology and Ideas

The movie Minority Report is based on Philip K. Dick's short story of the same name (read more about Minority Report by PKD, with entries for precrime, post-crime and precog). This excellent 2002 film stars Tom Cruse as John Anderton, the man falsely accused of future murder by the Precrime unit. Fantastic special effects really make this film a science fiction classic along with good performances (Max von Sydow is particularly good); this is a very enjoyable and remarkable film. Reportedly, many of the sfnal ideas derived from a 2-day discussion involving people from MIT's Media Lab and others. Select an invention:

Recon Spiders - swarming spider bots
Tiny spider-sized robots that are able to search buildings and identify occupants.

Sick Stick - instant nausea
Baton that induces vomiting upon contact.

Wired Glove Interface Display - gesture interface from Minority Report
A large screen display that uses a wired glove interface.
