The media machine is already trying to sell us this technology as a means of protecting ourselves from would-be terrorists by allowing the government to better identify US citizens and to protect your children from being kidnapped. This is a complete load and is just one more step towards the police state. The government would love to be able to track not only us but our currency transactions. Just think if Stalin or Hilter had access to this kind of technology. We are becoming what our country has always fought againest. It starts with the National ID card next May and then its tracking chips in our money, our purchases and our own bodies. It is this coming tide that has caused me to flee the US for a safer country. "A correction to [Electronicss Tech]'s post: An EMF signal, once emitted, DOES NOT PROPAGATE FOREVER. There exists an inverse power relationship: Doubling your distance from a transmitter means that the power density of the radiated wave at your new location is reduced to one-quarter of its previous value. And this is in a perfect vacuum, an atmosphere decreases the power even further. All of the extremely small RFID tags, including the "dust" featured, are passive UHF and transmit their ID by reflecting the tag reader's radio wave back to it with some encoded information. This reflection wave intensity decreases via the inverse fourth power law, basically meaning that the tag can't transmit information nearly as far as the reader, and just because the tag can receive the reader's wave, doesn't guarantee that the reader can receive the tag's. Beyond this, the smaller tags are also limited by their need for an antenna. There are limits to how small the antenna can be based on the wavelength of the radio frequency used. Even the dust mentioned above has to use an antenna magnitudes of size longer than the tag itself is just to be usable with current UHF reader technology. This technology, like any other, has potential for good and bad uses, but there are limits as with anything else. Educate yourself regarding those limits, and you'll be able to make more informed decisions regarding where to focus your energy and resources towards ensuring that your interests are best accounted for."
