Comments on JewelEye - Innovative Body Piercing Update
You've seen it everywhere (and lots of places you haven't seen it) - piercings and tatooing. But you'd need to go to the Netherlands to see eyeball jewelry. (Read the complete story)

"i think this is a wrong SIN! god bless you all!"
( 4/10/2004 7:55:21 AM)
"hmm ok if you wanna take a risk of getting lets say.... BLIND, or an eye infection...do whatever the heck you want to, take that risk but dude, its a major thing, its not like piercings and tatooing cause you can let the hole close on you, or get a tatoo removed but an JewelEye? you'll have to cut the inside of your eyeball to get rid of it...THINK BEFORE YOU DO "
(you really dont need to know 4/10/2004 7:58:17 AM)
"The Ophthalmologist should be NEVER permitted to practice any medicine ever again. He doesn't belong to the medical society; he is a money grabbing, money hungry despicable person. Shame on his practices."

"The name "JewelEye" sounds cool, but when you read on about all of the risks, it really isn't worth it. You could go blind and they said it would be difficult to remove. Did you see the picture of what they use to do it? It's like a long metal stick, with a circle on the end of it, but on the circle there a spikes sticking out of it! UUGGHH, just thinking about it makes my eyes water. Have any of you ever gotten an eye lash in their eye, or a piece of dirt? You know how much it hurts when it scratches your eye and you can't get it out? Imagine a scalple! (Dunno how to spell) And arn't you awake for this??? OUCH! I think it's nuts! LOL (RFR RULES!) :) Shady*** "

"It's not really a smart idea. There are infections and stuff like that asociated with the "JewelEyeTM" If you're going to do something like that, think first."
(Kate Todd 5/5/2004 6:25:20 AM)
"Quite frankly...this shouldn be much more than nothing. The dangers are not many..Done the right way under standard ophtlamic sterile procedure...well, I would have let my daughter do it."

"Hy mich würde echt sher interessieren welche riesieken man mit dem piercing ein geht und ob das nicht stresst im auge ich meine das muss sich doch an fühlen als wenn man eine Mücke im auge hat, oder nicht??? würde mich echt mal interessieren.... gruß lea..."

"wtf! that's great... eye piercing, huh?"
(mizanthropia 8/1/2004 4:30:41 AM)
"i think it sounds sweet! i lil on the dangerous side for the eyes though lol. i remember seeing stuff for contact jewlery a while back though, i think id rather have something a lil less permanant, and more safe. that pic looks hot though"
(rockerchickie 3/8/2005 10:27:03 AM)
"i think the eyeball piercing is the most outstandingly awesome thing i have ever freakin seen...its so SWEET!"
(attitude_5687 4/8/2005 1:05:03 PM)
"wot if it got rusty? do u understand the feralness of the act of peircing one's eyeball?"
(slob 5/2/2005 6:28:19 PM)
"I think all of you are retarded. It is not a piercing, it is a body mod, but not an effing piercing. Of course it has risks, but i think you'd be surprised how many risks there are for simple lobe piercings, especially ones done in malls be people who don't know what their doing and unsterlaized guns. You'll risk you're children getting HIV/AIDS in a mall but this is unspeakable for you. Fine if you don't agree with it but let others just do it, if it's that stupid then let them make these mistakes."
(Sam 8/4/2005 3:37:49 AM)
"i think it looks really nice i want it done but dont no how it is done.it looks really neat!"
(clh 8/19/2005 9:48:45 AM)
"I think putting a thing in your eye is pretty sweet, a little expensive for my taste, and I think they should have more variety to what you can have in the eye, like a four leaf clover or something. But I think it's pretty sweet, i'd get it done."
(Super toker 11/5/2005 6:54:21 PM)
"Wtf?! There are people who even like it?! Oh yeah, I think it looks real nice if you put a piece of metal into your eye - NOT. The idea is extremely stupid and I still can't believe that someone would actually do it. :S And btw I love all kinds of other piercings, this one is just.. omfg."
( 12/13/2005 10:53:38 AM)
"i got my eye peirced and its awsome its my body and ill do what i want just like the other 4 peircings i got and the 12 tattoos so piss off "
( 12/27/2005 8:17:13 PM)
"eye piercings are wicked i want mine dun i suggest u think about wat ur sayin bout em the needeles r perfectly strelised so wats there to me worried about???..... i dno"

"this is crazy because you dont know about the side effects...... "
(paulina 1/20/2006 9:48:42 AM)
"It cost to much for a thing that only lasts a year $800-$1600s plus the risks."
(james 1/20/2006 9:48:42 AM)
"Can't anyone in this place spell properly? "
( 1/23/2006 10:03:05 PM)
"I like the look of it. Something to really think about when I'm not playing the role of a poor college student. Just like all other forms of body modification, it has its risks. I, myself, will be doing more research before I make a decision to go for it or not. With the technology we have today, plus the health standards, if it ever makes it to the US legally, then it will probably slowly make its way main stream. P.S. Sin is the new little black dress"
(MyOwnSweetDemise 2/8/2006 11:20:43 PM)
"look so fake....dont even look real..cant bluff a small kid!!

"I so wanna get eye jewelery in my blind eye so it wont matter if it makes me go blind! It is so freakin kewl! "
(Jeanie 3/16/2006 8:07:18 PM)
"where can i get it done??"
(jasmine 4/5/2006 8:20:11 AM)
"You have to be damn stupid to get anything pierced in the first place. It reflects a lack of maturity and offers no value to a person in the future. "Oh, look I have a hole through my nose how cute." Bulls***! Same with tatoos, "Dave now that your 85 let's have a look at tatoo of an anchor on your sagging back skin.""
(Eric R 5/23/2006 6:14:15 PM)
"Looks like we have too little to worry about, if our minds are turning to such odd thoughts. I doubt that many residents of Irac are thinking in these terms. Maybe there really is a reason for war and bird flu epidemics!"

"i think that this eye ball thing is bull all your doing is mashing up your eye and putting crap in it."
(jasmine 6/28/2006 6:59:13 AM)
"i think its cool. not a satanic by any means, i mean hello its your own body, do whatever you want to do to it. god can love you with all your piercings;tattoos; or jewelEyes in that case."
(shelbs. 7/7/2006 6:31:08 PM)
"I know people who have had it done and have had absolutely no complications whatsoever and they're deliriously happy with the results. If I could afford the airfare, I'd have it done myself! To all you people ragging about body modification- Shut up. No one's trying to force you to do it. A person's body is their own. You have no right to dictate what they can or cannot do with it. Some people *do* get mods because it's fashionable, but most people get them because they like the look. My mods have made me more comfortable with myself. When I look in the mirror, I see someone beautiful. When other girls I know look in the mirror, they hate what they see. What's so wrong about being happy with myself? (N guys if ur tiping lyke dis dont say ur iqs hier than mine!)"
(Katya 7/12/2006 10:08:34 AM)
"it looks kool but wierd.. i wouldnt get it tho"
(stephanie 8/31/2006 1:52:52 PM)
"If you have to try that hard to be "different", then you're just the same as all of the other pathetically boring, insignificant people who get loads of tattoos and piercings. "
(Rational Guy 9/12/2006 8:34:22 PM)
"Farsical !"
( 9/13/2006 11:31:25 AM)
"i freeking love JewelEye and want it dune don't matter what people say its my taste and my body i do whatever i want to it non of you can stop me.. if i get an infection or something its my problem i chose to do it!!.. so get off and let people that like it have it dune!"
(Rui Macedo 9/14/2006 1:17:43 AM)
"i personally think its awesome i would get it done"
(drew 10/25/2006 11:18:39 AM)
"Some doctors like to experiment on human beings and this is just another example of that. How stupid!"
(Sam 10/30/2006 1:39:30 AM)
"Dr. Robert Maloney does them. He doesn't like sick people, so he messes with people's eyes and gets himself sued quite often. He ain't no doctor---he's a self-promoter!"
(Kiki 10/30/2006 1:42:46 AM)
"I want it!!! a Moon... how can i get it in Canada!!! (holliday@charleshays.net)"
(Holliday 11/4/2006 4:35:46 PM)
"and by the way! for those jerks who find it necessary to critisize those of us who are in favor of jeweleye, and possibly believe it "satanic" I'm a devout catholic, I've traveled over Canada w/ the National Evangelism Team and I'm stoked on this stuff! i've got 5 navel peircings, 12 ears, both my nipples and a crucifix tattoo on my foot so watch ur language and mind ur buisness!"
(Holliday 11/4/2006 4:37:56 PM)
"Oh my god. When I read that article my mouth was open the whole time. It looks cool but, there are so many risks. If you want to do it cool, good for you. Im not about to go get it done though."
(Shadow 12/14/2006 7:46:49 AM)
"It amazes me how inarticulate the individuals posting on here are. Every surgery has an element of risk, every piercing (though this is more of an implant) has risks as well. Tongue: Brain infections, fractured teeth; Ears: nerve damage, possible paralysis of nerves in the face. Lets talk implants for a second or any other cosmetic surgery; there are always risks and the possibility of deformity can be enormous. Let people do what they wish, and for God's sake (and everyone else's) please keep religion out of this discussion, according to most religious doctrines anything that could be potentially fun is a sin, not to mention that since also according to many western religions anything done to the body not good for the body is a sin... One more run to MacDonald's and I'm sure to burn in hell!"
(annoyed by dumb 12/19/2006 7:07:11 AM)
"I would like to get it done. I am in fact seriously thinking about it. But just like the rest of my body modifications i want to know as much about it as possiable first. Including risks, potential dangers etc. and then make an informed decision. Something many of the people here do not seem to even think about. Surely you do not belive everything you read or hear for what it is? there are always two sides to every story. So maybe try and think for yourselves."
( 1/8/2007 6:26:31 AM)
"i have 8 piercings; 2 in one ear, 1 in the other, right eyebrow, both my nipples (2), a verticle librette (sp?)which goes through my lip without entering the mouth and a prince albert. but id never get this done... not only do i wear glasses, therefore it wont be visible, i dont think this would look any good on me. If you want to go to the Netherlands to get one, then go ahead its a great country!! oh yeah incase your wondering im also have bright pink/red hair and 3 tattoos."
(James Farnham 1/11/2007 12:48:28 AM)
"JewelEye is NOT a piercing. It will not feel like a piercing either. It's just a very nice personal way of expressing yourself. It is implanted in the conjunctiva so it is NOT in the eye itself. Risks are minimal. If you don't like it: ok. If you like it, make sure you go to a good experienced ophthalmologist. Or go to the ophthalmologist who invented the JewelEye in Holland (www.niios.com). You can euther have a standard or a customized JewelEye so just think about the unique effect it will have... "
(Ramón 4/19/2007 8:33:31 AM)
"Standard, public school English classes are free. I am more stunned by the lack of language skills here than by the eyeball body-mod. It's not cool to be illiterate. It's kinda sad and even pathetic, really. (Posted by a 39 year-old mom with piercings and tattoos of her own.)"
( 5/20/2007 7:15:35 AM)
"Freedom of speech really is fabulous, but unfortunately it's often abused. There are certain people who are compelled to force their views on others while never bothering to say "In my opinion...". I've found that they are generally the most insecure of all. The more judgmental a person is, the more likely they are totally at odds with themselves on a very personal level. In other words, clean up your own backyard before peeking over the fence at mine."
( 5/20/2007 7:28:45 AM)
"I have actually had a jeweleye done. I flew to Holland and I was the first person to have a personalised custom jeweleye implanted. Now pretty much everyone that had a negative comment had a completely incorrect and untrue reason. Here are the facts: the risk of infection, and going blind is close to none. This is NOT a piercing it is an implant. The ophthalmic surgeons belong to an innovative and respected Ocular Surgery that do not manufacture the jeweleye for any commercial purposes, and haven't updated their website since 2003. The process of implantation is similar to many treatments performed to help peoples sight in hospitals all over the world. The surgeons perform far more dangeous and difficult operations to help people's sight- see their webpage http://www.niioc.nl/index.htm and see http://www.niioc.nl/cei-eng.htm for information on the actual implant. U get anaesethetic eyedrops and are fully conscience for the 20-30 min procedure. It isn't actually that bad, the most pain is the fact your eye feels mildly sore (not bad) for 1-2 days and for the first 4 hours sunlight is sensitive on the eyes. The jeweleye cannot rust, each one is individually manufactured of 99.98% platinum and sealed in a sterile pouch. The jeweleye has been problem free since its first 2002 implantation. The implant can simply be removed in the exact same manner it was implanted. And for the record, almost everyone i've shown has been astonished yet actually really liked it. Just a couple of people react somewhat negatively, but they are squeamish about eye operations and found it too nasty to think about. For reference, i would say that my tongue piercing was more painful, for a longer time."
(Mr Z 12/27/2007 7:05:30 AM)
"i must admit this looks really awesome and i would have it done but after watching the video about how they do it i feel speechless i personally have 11 piercings so far and want plenty more as well as tattoos im not sure if i would do something that extreme though something like that couldnt be that simple to do could it? else it would have been done years ago right? o and for the person sayin sommat about the rusty metal in your eye: its made of platinum and platinum doesnt go rusty o and some of you people need to check up on your details before you come in complaining the simple fact is if you dont like it, dont look. some people are into that kind of thing and if thats what they want to do with their body and are willing to risk it then so be it thats their choice at the end of the day personally i think it looks good and maybe in a few years time when more is known about it i would consider having it done but for the mean while i think ill pass"
(merry 3/29/2008 1:57:56 PM)
"Hey what's the difference between eye jewelery and Lasik surgery? I'll tell you: Lasik surgery permanently changes the way you see through your eyes. JewelEye just changes the way the side of your eye looks. Both are done for cosmetic reasons. My suggestion is make damn sure you feel like changing one of your most important organs before taking the dive."
(Lasiked 11/26/2008 10:10:16 AM)
"As rolls swell in the recession, workers find firms are contesting claims by alleging wrongdoing or quitting in a bid to not pay benefits."
(Keployslece 2/12/2009 8:28:54 AM)
"i think its cool but it would hurt really bad tho... would it make you go blind tho?"
( 5/7/2009 1:30:32 PM)
"I dont understand why everyone has an opinion about what people do to their own body's, mind your own and get a life!"
( 10/1/2011 7:25:46 PM)
"I think its awesome and I would do it in a heart beat risks or not, there are risks every day, you wake up you could fall down the stairs and break your neck, you cross the street and get hit by a car, you drive to work and get t boned, there are risks you take every day your just too self absorbed to realize it, shit happens thats just life, you either take risks and live it or you stay cooped up staying in your imaginary safe bubble that truly doesnt exist. And whats it to any of you what people do to their own bodies? get your own life and I think that some people on here that are just talking crap about it are just jealous of the ones who would do it because they dont have big enough balls of their own and they have to live up to everyone elses expectations, well Im living this life for myself and only for me, for I am the one I am going to be with in the end."
