Comments on d3o-based RibCap: Flexible-Rigid Beanie-Helmet For Snowsports
It's a helmet! No, it's a soft beanie cap! You're both right, kids - its the Ribcap with d3o. (Read the complete story)

"The d30-based Ribcap reminds me of John Brunner's KARATAND from Stand on Zanzibar. Same principle, but functions as an armoured glove and can be used as an offensive or defensive weapon. "

"I dunno about you, but this reminds me more of the "Karatand" self-hardening knuckleduster device mentioned in "Stand on Zanzibar" by John Brunner"
(Vik 11/30/2005 12:03:28 PM)
"I can't find a quote to go with the 'Karatand' reference. However, there is a company that is making gloves with d3o: here's a picture:

"This is a long time in coming, as it resolves the issue of meteor impact on astromechanics jobs. If it's reaction is proportional to the blow,if not, then it will work for such as encompassing seat restraints in auto's, especially for child restraints."

"Dude(s), I want the suit, the gloves, and a cap!"

"That is terrific as i perform alot of dangerous freestyle acrobatic tricks in public areas over cement. I hit my head yesti and it could have been fatal. As soon as i get one of these beanie helmets i wont have any fears at all. Although i dont know if this product is available in Australia yet. Im 16 and i cant wait to get one. It could be used for so many other sports. Well done!"
(Trent Murphy 5/3/2006 3:30:08 AM)

"We just acquired distribution rights to Ribcap in Canada. d3o is unbelieveable stuff! Even if it wasn't in products like Ribcap, the gloves, etc, the d3o sample that comes with them is fun for hours! We have stock right now and our site is at www.ribcap.ca "
