Comments on Bond's New Smart Gun In Skyfall
Didn't Judge Dredd have these in the 1970's? (Read the complete story)

"One downside here is that other than the grip sensor, these weapons couldn't be used with gloves (and that might be enough to foul the grip-pressure one). In lieu of biometrics, maybe an implanted RFID chip?"
(Joe the Rat 11/21/2012 8:32:01 AM)
"Electronic lock with fingerprint sensor. Off the shelf technology."
(Peter Jacobs 11/21/2012 3:53:23 PM)
"A gun owner told me that the problem with these things is it prevents someone else from defending YOU. If the owner can't reach his gun, it's up to his wife to pick it up and stop the house burglar attacking him with his "illegal knife"... So now you have to ask how many different fingerprints, palmprints etc.(from among his trusted friends) can you program into this one gun. What if it's a well meaning bystander that wants to protect him? Now they can't. Every tactical situation is different, but this assumes that they're all going to play out in the same way. Big mistake."
( 11/22/2012 10:19:54 PM)
"Right, even if these guns identified me 99 times out of a hundred, I don't think I'd want a gun that fired only 99 percent of the time."
( 11/23/2012 8:20:43 AM)
"Smart guns would be great for Law enforcement and guards, who likely wouldn't want some criminal to take it during a close alteration. For Sci-fi, DNA smart guns would be ideal in a war against aliens - make sure they can't use their weapons against them. "
(Gatomon41 11/24/2012 12:24:47 PM)
"An RFID chip in a bracelet/ring would suffice, if you need someone else to fire it, give them the device."
(Dewtey 11/26/2012 5:51:10 AM)
"Lest we not forget the Force Lance from Andromeda."
(Dewtey 11/26/2012 5:53:05 AM)
"Still doesn't stop the large numbers of people killed by family members in domestics using legally owned guns. Guess the US needs gun laws for that."
(Heard of laws? 11/26/2012 8:14:34 PM)
"Not sure if this is off topic but more children are killed every year in backyard swimming pools than with handguns. And since there's no constitutional protection for backyard pools..."
