Comments on Rotundus And Rover: Robotic And Fictional Guardians (Updated)
The Rotundus robot is a rather unusual spherical bot that moves using an internal pendulum. The robot was originally designed for planetary exploration at the Ångström Space Technology Center, part of Uppsala University, Sweden. (Read

"That kind of ball would fit best for commercial purposes. They could print commercials to that and get it roll on city streets. ..................
Also, it could make routine ice thickness&quality close-range-radar measurements on sea, river and lake ices on winter. Then that data to area website. It would save lives. .............
It could offer flexible moving-target practice for real rifles.

"Funny....reminds me of a cat tiy. The kind where you unscrew the two halves insert a AA battery and set it off to roll around randomly bumping into objects."

"British fox hunters might want to replace foxs with these kind of balls, now that fox hunting is banned. The hounds could be trained to chase those balls, instead of fox, maybe with some special scent spread over. Or "hound"-balls would "chase" "fox"-balls.
..............
That kind of ball would be great in some new kinds of 1 and 2 side games. The playball would have its own objective and unbiased will.
.......................
It would be fun to see those in pedestrian/walking streets/zones in cities and themeparks, maybe with ads printed on them. Nobody would bother much if it hit, so control software can be very rudimentary. Especially in theme park pedestrian zones.

"Wow! Nice to know this stuffses - - - put enough of these Rotundus 'bots out there, on "security perimeter" duty, you will, very shortly have the ultimate segregated "body".
Think germs:cells:anti-bodies
and look at the 'bots as white blood cells - keeping in (or out..) Undesirable Elements.
Anyone with enough moolah/greens/folding could have them thar own liddle Shanri-La.
sweet.."
