Comments on Hit Song Science (HSS): Finetune Your Tracks
A computer program called Hit Song Science (HSS) from Polyphonic HMI, is being used to predict success or failure for music. And it is being used by musicians around the world to "finetune" the music to which every one of us listens. (Read the complete story)

"LMAO I need to put my parody site to polyphonichmi.com back online. "

"Be careful of that tune that gets “stuck in your head”: Arthur C Clarke wrote a story in 1956 called "The Ultimate Melody" in which a scientist programs a computer to choose melodies to conform to brain processes / rhythms. Eventually the scientist is rendered vegetative as his brain is taken over by the ultimate melody."

"This engine is crap. I Uploaded 2 Songs by well known artists, and yes, they are HITS, and the engine scored them very very low (= junk songs). Crap!"

"I believe that this program will steer away the next Elvis Presley or Michael Jackson because of judgement. What if someone has a totally new sound, a sound never before heard, a sound that beats every other song in the history of music. The program is not going to rate it high due to the fact it doèsn`t fit into the hit cluster or catergories. If this happens, the potential to create a new sound will not happen just because the program says your song is not going to be a hit. I say be rid of this program, besides, nobody wants to sound like every other artist out there, right? With this program, it seems that it`s telling us that we need to be like others to be successful. Myself, I don`t believe that, I currently have some nasty tunes and I`m nearing my million dollar mark in sales and the fan base is ever growing. And when I put in my tune into the system, it scored me at 4.6, but the public, from experience choose to disagree because I speak of the truth, I sing about Love & Life."
