Comments on iPhone To Control Desktop Computer Remotely?
Nice prediction for William Gibson; he even used a touch screen interface on his 'control-face' device. (Read the complete story)

"So, Apple is trying to patent a VNC client (that have been available on various phones and mobile devices for quite a while, many of which have touch-screens), or trying to patent a UI design for a VNC app?"

"I'm not a patent attorney, but that seems to be what Apple is trying to do in their filing. The patent seems to emphasize the use of a telephony device (as opposed to using one pc to access another). This patent also subsumes an earlier patent that use a voice command interface, so that may be another unique element. I found a complete copy of the patent application at http://www.freepatentsonline.com/7634263.pdf"
(Bill Christensen 12/16/2009 7:07:59 PM)
"I was going to say I've been doing that with Windows Mobile and LogMeIn for years now."
(Jesse 12/18/2009 9:38:27 PM)
"Right, the big deal about this post is that a major smartphone platform will likely serve as the touch screen front end - the control-face - for your home or office computer."
