"Thanks, I'll add it to the article. Any more examples, readers? There's a very early one that I can't for the life of me remember. A general actually credited a science fiction writer with created the idea of a command center with sophisticated displays that bring together information from all over the theater. Help!"

"The early mention of an advanced CIC was from EE Doc Smiths Lensman series. This was credited as the inspiration for the US Navys original CIC design (ref Captain Cal Lannings)
