Comments on 'Try Zero-G' From JAXA Totally Unlike SciFi Movies
No wonder so many people believe that man never walked on the moon; popular tv and movie versions of space flight never show what actual weightlessness looks like in an orbiting ship. (Read the complete story)

"The Black Hole had a pretty impressive 0g opening segment."
( 6/12/2009 1:56:40 AM)
"Um, technically 'Apollo 13' was an historical drama, but ..."
(? 6/12/2009 3:56:13 AM)
"The underrated horror film 'Event Horizon' -- foreshadowing 'The Matrix' with both ambitious CGI effects and also Laurence Fishburne as a futuristic ship captain -- has several scenes in zero G."
(! 6/12/2009 3:56:49 AM)
"And if you count anime, Planetes did a pretty good job."
(Ashley 6/12/2009 7:23:24 AM)
"That bit where he spins faster when he curls up reminds me of a scene from Heinlein's SPACE CADET."
(Winchell 6/12/2009 8:06:09 AM)
"Along with 'Apollo 13', the entire 'From the Earth to the Moon' series made extensive use of zero g. Both of these were done in a real zero g plane though. (http://www.gozerog.com/)"
(Jim P 6/12/2009 12:50:14 PM)
"Thanks, everyone; I'd forgotten about 'The Black Hole'. Winchell, I should also have pointed out that a very early Heinlein story - Misfit - gave an interesting account of what happens to ground hogs when they first experience weightlessness (fortunately, NASA astronauts get to experience the Vomit Comet first). Same thing in Methuselah's Children when Lazarus evacuates the Howard Families. "
(Bill Christensen 6/12/2009 6:26:16 PM)
"The opening sequence from "Barbarella" should not be missed"
(Peter Jacobs 6/14/2009 2:51:44 PM)
