Brian Aldiss:
Science Fiction Technology and Ideas
Brian Aldiss was born in 1925 in East Dereham, Norfolk. He joined the Royal Signals regiment in 1943, seeing action in Burma in WWII. He wrote short science fiction for magazines after the war, becoming a full-time writer in 1955. He and Harry Harrison started Science Fiction Horizons in 1964, the first sf criticism magazine. He was awarded the title of Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2005.
