"You're referring to the surgically inset glasses that Molly had in Neuromancer? You're right - there is the same kind of retro feeling.
In this item, I think Morgan is referring to exactly the kind of glasses we wear today (maybe similar to the Finn in Neuromancer wearing tiny square spectacles, if I remember correctly). Molly's inset glass lenses (from a literary sense) made her a more distant figure; they might also have protected her eyes during fights, which is what she lived for."
