""And besides, if machines disappear somewhere and return shiny and recharged, ready for any task that comes, might you and I want to visit such a place?"
At 66 yrs of age and still an avid SF reader, YES PLEASE, if I,too, can come back 'nice & shiny'!!!"

"The latest version of the main technological sourcebook for GURPS® -- i.e., "Ultra-Tech Fourth Edition®" from the "Generic Universal Role-Playing System®," by Steve Jackson Games®, talks about something like a cleaning machine warren. Except in that game system, particular models of "cyberswarm hive" house particular machines of a given size and purpose that each hive is designed to hold, rather than only being able to hold cleaning machines. In that game system, certain kinds of "cyberswarm hives" are mass-produced and freely bought for civilian use, with machines already housed inside them. For example, you can buy cyberswarm hives designed to be integrated into vehicles, providing things like better automated damage control. Some cyberswarm hives house machines for massage, while others contain machines that act as children's toys, etc. The cyberswarms are not described as nanomachines, but as being macroscopic in size. In other words, the hives are housing devices that accomodate micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS)."
