"This gadget sounds a lot like a real-life endoscope - you know, the kind they use for things like knee surgery and abdominal surgery. The surgery team put in one with a camera so they can see what they're doing on a video screen, then they put in one or more with little micro-instruments on them with which to do the actual work. The insertion holes are only about an inch across, so the press has dubbed this technique "band-aid surgery" because the incisions can be covered with band-aids.
