| Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875-1950) was an American science fiction writer; during his long career he wrote more than seventy novels. His first story Under the Moons of Mars was serialized in All Story magazine in 1912. Tarzan of the Apes was published in October of the same year; it was an immediate success. Determined to take maximum advantage of his intellectual property, Burroughs started a comic strip, movies and merchandise related to Tarzan. All were successful. |
