Stephen Baxter:

Stephen Baxter (b. 1957) is a British author with degrees in mathematics and engineering. As you might guess, hard sf is his specialty. He won the John W. Campbell award for The Time Ships, an authorized sequel to The Time Machine. See also his collaborations: Alastair Reynolds (w/S Baxter).
