Edward Wellen:

Edward Paul Wellen (b. 1919 - d. 2011) was an American short story writer. He served in the US Army's Chemical Warfare Service in WWII. He studied at several universities but did not obtain a degree. His sf works were published starting in 1952 with Origins of Galactic Slang.
