"The trick is not becoming a writer. The trick is staying a writer. Day after month after year after story after book."

This is a very early use of the phrase (sometimes written without a space - skinsuit).
John Varley uses the word "skinsuit" (no space) in Millenium (1983), but it's not clear to me whether the character is referring to an actual device used as a disguise, or as a pathological reference to her own skin.
Compare to skin suit from Dinosaur Beach (1971) by Keith Laumer, transkin from Parasite Planet (1931), by Stanley G. Weinbaum, kloraderm from Old Man's War (2005), by John Scalzi, the diveskin from Starfish (1999) by Peter Watts and skintight from War Dogs (2014), by Greg Bear.
