Bionic Body Armor Makes You Dodge Bullets

IBM has filed a patent for bionic body armor that would force you (yes, even sedentary, non-athletic you) to dodge bullets.

According to a recent patent filed by IBM, your Bionic Body Armor is constantly on the alert for incoming projectiles. Aha! One of your many enemies has decided to take a potshot at you.

Now, your Bionic Body Armor delivers a carefully chosen shock to your musculature that is calculated to force you to reflexively avoid the path of the bullet.

The present invention relates generally to the protection of an individual against a projectile propelled from a firearm. More particularly, the present invention relates to a body armor system and its method of use that is capable of detecting a projectile propelled from a firearm, computing the trajectory of the projectile, and moving the individual out of the path of the projectile to avoid being hit.

And you thought that Neo was quick in the Matrix.

Update: It just occurred to me - what if DARPA succeeds in developing its guided bullets? According to the article "The use of an actively controlled bullet will make it possible to counter environmental effects such as crosswinds and air density, and prosecute both stationary and moving targets while enhancing shooter covertness..." End update.
