Cold cash for corpsicles; before freezing, cryonauts put assets on ice. (Read the complete story)

"This article misses mention of one of the best of the stories about cryonic suspension (aka "cold sleep") which is Robert A. Heinlein's "The Door Into Summer" published in 1956. "Work while you sleep. Let your money grow.""

"Where did you get the idea that cryonics members are mostly wealthy single males? I'm male, but neither single nor wealthy, and my wife (also a member) is none of those. Of the patients profiled in Cryonics magazine, most of them are married, a significant number of them are women, and I don't recall any of them being particularly wealthy (it costs less than satellite TV for most people, you know). So: can you back up that claim?"
(Joe Strout 1/27/2006 8:01:29 PM)
"I wrote to Alcor asking for some demographics - here's the scoop: ------------------ The percentage of male/female is 4/1 Of the 785 Members, 365 are married. The 420 are either divorced, single or under 18. For our patients, we have 72 patients at this time. 16 are female, 52 are male. I don't have complete records regarding their martial status, some of our patients have been here a long time. ------------------ So - I can't be sure about wealthy, but most members are single and male."

" In November 2004, New York Police Det. Patricia O'Brien went to the Daniel George and Son Funeral Home in Brooklyn to check out what she thought was a routine business dispute. The new owners of the home complained that the man who'd sold them the place, Joseph Nicelli, had walked off with some of their money. But when O'Brien began looking around, she discovered something odd. On the second floor of the funeral parlor, directly above the room where bodies were embalmed, was a sealed space outfitted like an operating room, with a surgical table and bright overhead lights. She also found FedEx receipts with the names of companies that purchase human tissue from cadavers for use in surgical procedures. Something was clearly not right. O'Brien called in the department's Major Case Squad, and went to work unraveling the mystery. larry niven organleggers "
