"This would be a nice idea for the homeless in all cities and now New Oleans. pljames@brmemc.net"

"how's this sound: buy conventional tents and then apply a foam coating to the fabric for rigidity and insulation. Wal-Mart sold me a nice big dome tent for a hundred bucks a couple years back. Set the thing up, apply a couple inches of spray-on rigid foam, cut out openings for doors and windows. Cluster them around shower and bathroom facilities in school yards or sports arenas. String up reflective plastic sheeting for shade. Bonus points: use shaded levels of parking garages. Or wooded areas of public parks."

""No, it hasn't come to this - yet" (!?????????????????????!) My family in New Mexico has been living in something similar (3 containers, only 1 level) since 1996! The centeral, sheltered yard is used to scratch out what little food we can produce. In the wake of "the outsorcing of America", the rest of you had better start getting used to it!"

"And - Yes - We are all computer literate, morally straight, hard working, legal Americans. Any one of us would have been a valuable contributor to this scoiety - IF this scoiety had not "sold us down river" by financially restructuring it's self to mostly benefit the lazy, the false value addicted, and the spiritually frail!"

"people are geeks if they read this "

"There's a shopping mall / office building in Harvard Square called The Garage which is a converted parking garage, complete with spiraling ramp up the middle."
( 3/7/2006 9:08:57 AM )
"the tent with foam insulation thing is a good idea if tents would not break down in the face of UV. Oh and the camping in parking garage thing is talked about in Niven's Pak protector"
